BIDDING INSTRUCTIONS
Thomas Industries utilizes various auction formats in conducting sales throughout the world. The sale type for each project is identified on the auction calendar and on the auction information page.
Creating an Account - By creating account on this site users will have the ability to participate in online auctions, bid on items in the online store and have the option to receive auction notifications for upcoming sales. A user account may be created by simply clicking the “Create Account” link on the top right of any page.
ONLINE AUCTIONS
Registration - For users to participate in an online auction they must have an account with Thomas Industries (see above Creating an Account). After a user has created and account and logged in, they must register for each auction they wish to participate. Select the appropriate auction from the auction calendar. Once you arrive at the main auction page click the “Register Now” button. Simple agree to the Terms and Conditions and you’re ready to bid.
View Lots – From the main auction page user can view the auction items by clicking the “View Lot Catalog” link. The lot catalog will display a description of each item, location, current bid and the lot closing time. To see additional information for an item, view photos or submit a bid, click on the item description.
Bidding – From the Lot Catalog page, click on the items you wish to bid on. A Lot Detail page will open with a button Submit Bid. Please note, the Submit Bid option will only appear once the bidding is open and prior to the item closing.
Lot Closing Time – Each item has a specified lot closing time which is the final bidding period for that item. This is usually a five minute period, in which bidders have a last chance to submit their bids. At the end of the final bidding period, the lot will be awarded to the high bidder (subject to meeting a reserve price).
During the final bidding period the group of items scheduled in that period will appear above the lot catalog. These items will appear in individual boxes with live count down timers. The time remaining and current bid will be displayed, along with a “Bid” button. Each box will also indicate if you are the high bidder or if you have been outbid.
Auto Extend – The time remaining for an item will be extended to 3-minutes if a bid is placed with less than 3-minutes remaining on that item. This enables everyone to get there bids in and eliminates that last minute bidding frenzy.
